Class of 2018 Pathways to Graduation
Members of the Class of 2018 have several paths to graduation. Read more:
YCSD after-school program resumes Sept. 25
Youngstown City School District's after-school program for kindergarten through eighth-graders begins Sept. 25 and will include reading and math components as well as fun enrichment activities and exposure to sports skills fundamentals. Students will be fed dinner and a healthy snack and bused home and it's all free. Click below for the enrollment forms which may be printed, completed and then returned to the school.
 
First Chaney Parent Involvement Meeting of 2017-18
Join us for the first Chaney Parent Involvement Meeting of the 2017-18 school year Sept. 29 from 2 to 3 p.m. in Room 151 at the school. Hope to see you there!
Free Adult Classes Offered at Taft
The Youngstown City School District is offering free adult classes evenings beginning Sept. 25 at Taft Elementary School. The effort is being coordinated with the Taft Promise Neighborhood.

Dena Esmail, a third-grade teacher at Williamson Elementary School is the 2017 Teacher of the Year for the Youngstown City School District.
 
The principal of each of the 14 YCSD schools nominates a teacher for the teacher of the year honor. The winner is chosen based on the number of points awarded to each candidate. Points, allotted by a committee of veteran teachers and administrators, are based on classroom visits, an interview and each candidate's resume and essay.

Kindergarten registration
Kindergarten registration begins March 6 for the Youngstown City School District. Registration may be done at each elementary school.
 
Preschool Registration
The Youngstown City School District is registering preschool students for the 2017-18 school year. Applications are available at school buildings but they must be returned to Room 113 in the Irene Ward Administration Building, 20 W. Wood St.
