VPA Visual Art Program K-12

Art classes are provided for all students in grades K-12. High school courses are electives . Students have opportunities to create in a respective arts discipline in classroom experiences, discuss the art being studied and evaluate their works and the work of others. This approach helps students develop and articulate personal arts philosophies.

Art work is displayed in building hallways and offices. Invidual schools hold art shows in community venues and local libraries.

"UNITE! Build a better community, Build a better World"
The YCSD VPA Unity Project is an art exhibit featuring the collaborative efforts of VPA visual art students in grades K-12 throughout the Youngstown City School District. The project symbolizes "building unity" through the collaborative painting process. Each VPA painting features a collective unified vision or message by the students and features the work of each and every visual art student in the building led by their art teacher. The paintings are accompanied by poignant quotes regarding unity provided by the students which were collected during the creative process.
