SESSION #1: COLLEGE AWARENESS - THE NEXT CHAPTER
In this session parents will learn how to prepare their scholars for the next chapter of their future and education.  Using the "Next Chapter" individualized workbook and parent guide manual, you will be able to help your scholar with the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA), helping them to decide what college they would want to attend, how much it will cost, and where to begin. Each parent will receive the two book series of “The Next Chapter”(Virtual session)


SESSION #2: TECHNOLOGY 101 

This month, we will be having our Session 3 of Parent YOU Tech 101, we will be learning about Clever, Google Calendar Basics, YouTube Basics & learning more about Digital Privacy & Security(Virtual session)

SESSION #3: SUPPORTS THAT YCSD PROVIDES YOUR SCHOLAR
Our topic for this month is academic supports and Interventions which can be provided by our teachers and support personnel within the classroom.  One of our Speech Language Pathologists along with our School Psychologists will discuss how their screener and assessment data can be used by the classroom teacher to provide specific interventions for our scholars.    (Virtual  & in-person session)


SESSION #4:THE GOOD & THE BAD OF SOCIAL MEDIA
This session will explore the benefits and dangers of Social Media, the age requirements for access to specific platforms, and how to build and protect self-esteem while engaging.

(Facilitated by William Guy Burney) This 5 series sessions on social emotional learning will focus on achievement, grit, mental health, overcoming trauma, fatherhood, conflict management, and helping kids stop violence. 


SESSION #5: EXPANDED FOOD & NUTRITION EDUCATION PROGRAM
Join us from the comfort of your own home, in a car, or at the library for nutrition program, physical activity and cooking demos!  This session is a series of 9 sessions that will take place once a week for 1 hour! Each parent after the completion of the 9 sessions will receive a free electric skillet (per household), other small kitchen tools, cookbook, as well as a certificate of completion for the sessions. (Virtual session)

  • Preschool
